Funeral and Memorial Services

For funerals, your family members usually meet with a Funeral Director at the funeral home of your choice. The Funeral Director contacts the church office to make arrangements for the service. The pastor will contact the family to make a pastoral care visit and to plan the service. We will work with you to provide suggestions for readings, music, and service format.

With memorial services, you may contact the church office directly. The pastor will meet with you to learn about your loved one and to plan the service. We will work with you to provide suggestions for readings, music, and service format.

Making Funeral Arrangements:

Funeral Logistics:

FTCC is here for you in your time of need. Funeral and Memorial Services typically take place in our church sanctuary on weekdays at 10:00 AM or Sundays at/after 1:00 PM. We can work with you to make accommodations for other times, if necessary.

Our peaceful sanctuary seats up to 200 guests and our hall or more intimate library (for gatherings of up to 12 people) may be available for your reception following the service. Member and non-member off-site funerals are also available.

We have a piano and organ in our worship space. If you elect to incorporate music into the service, we can provide a musician and/or soloist. Alternately, you may invite family members or friends to sing or play instruments. If you’d like to have congregational singing, we have hymnals in every pew and the pastor can work with you to choose appropriate hymns.

We have ample parking in our lot directly across the street and we offer handicap parking in front of the church. Our worship space, hall, and restrooms are located on the main floor and are easily handicap accessible via ramp. We have a large hall on the main floor if you choose to hold a reception at the church instead of a restaurant or the family home.

Donations:

Donations to First Trinitarian Congregational Church may be made in honor of your loved one. We are deeply grateful to those that encourage donations in memory of loved ones. Donations may be mailed to: First Trinitarian Congregational Church, 381 Country Way, Scituate, MA 02066.

Member fees:

FTCC sanctuary: No charge
Minister, funeral or memorial service in sanctuary, funeral home, or at gravesite: $350
Minister, committal service immediately preceding or following funeral or memorial service: no charge.
Minister, committal service only (at grave): $150
Musician: $250 (Alternately, you may bring your own musician or forego music.)
Soloist: $150 (Alternately, you may bring your own soloist or forego a soloist.)
Custodian: $100 sanctuary only, $150 memorial garden only, $200 sanctuary & memorial garden service.
Bulletin: $125
Reception (Collation):
Rice Hall:$250, plus additional $100 due custodian.
Library: $100, plus additional $25 due custodian
Memorial Garden Plot Preparation: $350

Non-member fees:

FTCC church, use of sanctuary: $200
Minister, funeral or memorial service in church sanctuary (or at funeral home or at gravesite) : $400
Minister, gravesite committal service only: $150 (If immediately prior/following church funeral, $100)
Musician: $250 (Alternately, you may bring your own musician or forego music.)
Soloist: $150 (Alternately, you may bring your own soloist or forego a soloist.)
Custodian: $100 sanctuary only, $150 memorial garden only, $200 sanctuary & memorial garden service.
Bulletin: $125
Reception (Collation): Rice Hall:$300, plus additional $100 due custodian.
Library: $125, plus additional $25 due custodian
Memorial Garden Plot Preparation: $350

Off Site Funeral or Memorial Services:

Member off-site funeral within 20 miles: Minister fee is $300 or committal only is $150.

Non-member off-site funeral: Minister fee is $400 or committal only is $250. Plus travel.
